In modern society, learning a new language can be extremely difficult and very stressful, especially English! Also, learning English can be very rewarding, resourceful, and beneficial. Most people have very busy lives and ever-changing schedules. Whether it is from taking care of the kids and going to work, or no kids and trying to work, pay the bills to stay afloat in this economy, learning English is something you can do! (P.S) Learning English can help you balance all of these things and also provide you with financial income!
Look I get it, life throws a ton of obstacles at you and there never seems to be enough time in one day, Well great news for you! Learning English only requires a couple of hours a day! Yup that’s right, just two short hours a day and you will be on your way to speaking English!
The world we live in today is now becoming more and more bilingual, to the point where it is imperative that you speak and know more than one language. English is a great secondary language to learn and speak as it is a worldwide spoken language; although that won’t make it any less difficult to learn.
Good news is there is a way to make studying English uncomplicated and effortless, I like to call it the Approach!”  In this article, you will learn how to use the correct approach when learning and studying English to maximize the most out of your study time.

First Things First

Before setting out to do things, most people like to plan them first. For instance, when going on a road trip or vacation, often people will first plan where they want to go and what they want to do, right down to each and every detail! The same needs to be applied when starting to learn and study a new language! When beginning to study English, first you should think of a plan.
You may be asking yourself, “Where do I begin?” Well congrats to you if you are asking yourself this question, often people just start learning a language by simply buying any old English learning book and diving right into it trying to learn some words, or you may be thinking you can just watch some English YouTube videos daily and be good to go.
These things are all great idea’s and are fine, as a beginner, you have already come to the conclusion that you want to learn English. All these ideas you have come up with to begin studying English is your plan for learning English!
Having a plan is an excellent strategic move for learning English, especially for beginners! Having a plan is the first perfect step to the right approach!
The right approach will help you learn English in a more timely, more efficient and less stressful manner.

The Foundation

  • the natural or prepared ground or base on which some structure rests.
  • The basis or groundwork of anything:
The foundation of a language, what is that? When it comes to the approach of learning English, the foundation is the place where you start! If you know nothing at all about English, the foundation is what you want to make your strongest focal point. The foundation is going to be your structure, which enables you to grow and expand in your developmental stages of learning English, taking you from beginner to confident speaker.
Take a good look at the words in bold words in the definitions above,
  • Natural
  • Prepared
  • Base
  • Structure
  • Basis
  • Anything
All of these words are the things you are gong to need to guide you to a successful learning path to English. As a beginner, they will teach you how to manage your study time and advance your skills from beginner, intermediate, to advanced. These are your core principals!
Remember if you’re going to learn a language, do it the right way, you can’t skip all over the place; you need to learn and study in a methodical manner.

The key to success is a good foundation!

The starting line for a beginner is the Alphabet, or some refer to it as the ABC’s. This is where all beginners should start building their foundation. The Alphabet is a set of letters or symbols in a fixed order, used to represent the basic sounds of a language; in particular, the set of letters from A to Z.

Take a look at the Alphabet pictured above, it consist of 26 letters, notice there are five letters highlighted red. The red letters are what we refer to as the vowels

  • The word vowel comes from the Latin word vocalis, meaning “vocal” the word vowel is commonly used to refer both to vowel sounds and to the written symbols that represent them.

Pronunciation Period✔

The correct approach is pronunciation, it is the basis of any language! In order to communicate correctly, you must know what you’re going to be pronouncing; that’s where your foundation comes in, remember starting from the beginning of the Alphabet. The alphabet, along with the correct pronunciation, will surely lead to your fluency in English!
Approach learning English in a strategical and methodical manner. Once you have practiced and mastered the alphabet, it’s time to familiarize yourself with the letters in a sentence structure; this will test your pronunciation skills.

Don’t Rush!

Take your time when studying. Be sure you repeat yourself over and over, this is key to the success of your fluidity ! You will speak the language without hesitation and without having to translate the language into your language in your head before completely understanding it or speaking it.
The more you practice repeating words to yourself, the faster they will become synced into your brain. Don’t worry about talking to yourself or sounding crazy around other people. Try not to rush through your study period. Remember, your goal is to become a fluent English speaker!
Make sure you take the right approach strategically and methodically to be identifying and pronouncing each word and letter properly.

Approach It, Strategically & Methodically

If you have already been studying English and still find your self struggling, ask yourself… Am I approaching the situation correctly? Maybe you need to take your time and focus on your foundation and structure. Be sure you get the most out of your study time.
Don’t get upset if you feel you need to go back or restart from the beginning and re-learn something or use a different approach. Remember, all progress is good progress!

Do I find myself in situations where I want to speak English and cannot?
